Amanda commenced her Articles of Clerkship with Andrew Miller & Associates in 1997 where she gained experience in the various areas of legal practice including: legal drafting (including the drafting of Summons and other Pleadings, Notices and Applications, as well as of commercial contracts); all aspects of High Court and Magistrates’ Court litigation, as well as attendance at criminal proceedings; analysis of contracts, and attending to related litigation; debt collection; and the administration of deceased and sequestrated estates.

Amanda joined Arthur Cox in Dublin, Ireland in 1999 and was assigned to the firm’s Litigation Department. Her involvement was focused on product liability litigation, primarily the tobacco industry’s defence of smoking and health litigation and also the anticipation / avoidance of litigation in relation to the brewing and mobile telephone service provision industries. During her time at Arthur Cox, she also gained considerable experience in research, drafting, analysis, and the furnishing of legal advice and opinion.

Amanda joined KPMG in 2001 and within six weeks was seconded to the JSE Limited, for a period of one year, where her responsibilities and involvement included the vetting of documentation relating to corporate actions, new listings and general disclosure. Amanda also assisted companies, their Sponsors and the public with rulings on, and the interpretation of, the Listings Requirements and she provided opinions to the Division and to Committees on the structuring of transactions in compliance with the Listings Requirements.

Upon her return to KPMG, she was assigned to the Department’s JSE Advisory Services niche. In this regard, she participated in the firm’s role as Sponsor to certain listed companies, involving the furnishing of advice to companies on continuing obligations in terms of the Listings Requirements and on individual transactions, as well as the drafting and submission to the JSE of documentation and announcements. Outside of this niche, she assisted the Department with due diligence, the preparation of information memoranda and the furnishing of legal opinion.

Amanda joined the JSE in 2003 as a Senior Corporate Finance Officer in the Corporate Finance Department of the Issuer Services Division, where she resumed, at a senior level, the same responsibilities and involvement during her secondment.

In 2008 Amanda joined QuestCo Sponsors (Pty) Limited as a consultant.
