Peter joined the Anglo American Gold Division in 1980 after completing his BSc in Mining Engineering at Wits University. He worked as a production official (Shift boss, Mine Overseer and Shaft Manager) from 1988 to 1992. During 1993 Peter studied for his MBA at Wits Business School. From 1994 till 1995 Peter was a gold analyst for Fergusson Bro’s, Hall Stewart and Co. In 1995, Peter joined the Corporate Finance Division of Rand Merchant Bank. He co-founded RMB Resources, providing technical mining expertise and valuation skills. He was involved in the majority of resources related corporate finance transactions in South Africa, leading a team of corporate finance professionals. RMB Resources’ clients included many of the large mining houses - Gold Fields, Anglo Platinum, Impala Platinum, the Randgold/JCI group, Amcoal and Billiton. In addition to his mergers and acquisition activities, from 1997 Peter managed RMB’s mining private equity portfolio.

In 2002, Peter left RMB Resources to start QuestCo as an independent corporate finance advisory company.
