1993 - 2009 Standard Bank

  • Joined the Corporate Finance Division in 1993.
  • Appointed a director in 1998.
  • Appointed Head of Department in 1999. Responsible for the day to day management of the Corporate Finance Division which houses, inter alia, Standard Bank’s mergers and acquisitions, IPO, privatization and black economic empowerment advisory expertise.
  • 4 months’ secondment to Standard Bank London.
  • Member of the Executive Committee of Standard Bank Corporate and Investment Banking Division.
  • In July 2006 left the Corporate Finance Division to join a team of 5 senior bankers, focused on investment banking client coverage.
  • In May 2007 I was appointed Head of Investment Banking for Standard Bank Africa. The role required me to manage Standard Bank’s investment banking business across the 17 countries in Africa where Standard Bank has a presence. I performed this role until my resignation from the bank in April 2009.

    Led the team which advised on the IPO of subsidiary, Tanzania Breweries Limited.

    Led the team which advised on the IPO.
  • Anglo Platinum Ltd
    Part of the team which advised on the placing of R4bn convertible instrument.
  • AngloGold Ashanti Ltd
    Part of the team which provided a reasonableness opinion on their BEE transaction.
  • Tiger Brands Ltd
    Led the team which advised on their BEE transaction.
  • Standard Bank Group Ltd
    Led the team which advised on their BEE transaction.
  • Liberty Group Ltd
    Led the team which advised on their BEE transaction.
